Bokan Brunch Baby

Brunching so high in the sky

A few weeks ago we were invited to try Bokan‘s brunch and my god, was it fantastic.

So a little basic background info.:

  • Bokan is a restaurant/bar/rooftop terrace at Novotel Canary wharf, housed 37 floors closer to heaven, which is fitting because their duck made me feel like I died and went there – more on that later.
  • Brunch is served 12.30 – 2.30pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays for Β£49.00pp bottomless.
  • They will be holding Jazz on the Roof for some after brunch entertainment between 4pm – 7pm on Sundays throughout October.
  • They sometimes have an offer on Time Out for 3 courses/bottomless Prosecco for Β£42 so watch out for that

We booked this brunch for a little girly get together, so I would say we were quite glam which suited the surrounding perfectly -tell your boyfriends no trainers allowed. This brunch is definitely perfect for a special occasion/ if you want to impress a special date (rumour has it, you’re likely to get lucky if you take them here. At it’s at the top of a hotel too, convenient right). The views are a huge WOW but that doesn’t mean they have scrimped on the furniture/ decor inside, think industrial with rugs and expensive looking chrome – beaut.

The menu is seasonal so it has changed since we went in mid September but I’m surely it’s still just as visually appealing and delicious. Prosecco is the drink of choice on the bottomless option.

As with all our friends who brunch with us, the unspoken rules of brunching with the Belles applied:

  1. Variety is key
  2. Pick the most instagrammable dishes
  3. Don’t touch your food until we’ve papped it from every angle

With that said, we had quite the spread (hehe rhyme)

Starters:

  • Homemade game & foie gras terrine, pickled onions, toast
  • Scallops Tartare, beetroot, granny smith apple, horseradish cream
  • Organic Pugliese burrata, grilled peach, basil, cucumber, melba toast (v)
  • Beef carpaccio, green olive puree, lemon dressing, rocket, parmesan

Mains:

  • British Wagyu brunchger, egg, roastie potato, bacon, mushroom
  • Crispy egg Royal, Maldon hot smoked salmon, wasabi hollandaise
  • Roasted duck breast, Questches, Damson, sweet potato puree (X4 SORRY WE ❀ DUCK)

Dessert (this one was HARD, so we got one of each hehe):

  • List of artisan cheeses
  • Glass jar of Tiramisu, coffee jelly and salty chocolate crumble
  • Homemade choux pastry, caramel & passion fruit, candied peanuts, mango sorbet
  • Almond and lime sponge cake, homemade nutella, candied hazelnuts, vanilla ice cream
  • Blackberries & cream cheese tart, raspberry sorbet

HOW GOOD DOES THAT LOOK. I would go as far to say at the best presented brunch we have ever tried.

The prices might be on the higher end of the spectrum but so was the quality of food.

Our absolute faves were the duck, tiramisu, choux pastry and the bread (lol carbs hi) but the presentation of the scallops were beautiful even if a little bare as it was wolfed down in about 3.9 seconds.

Still dreaming about that duck…

Lets just have a slide show of the duck oneΒ  more time….

Thanks.

After brunch we headed upstairs to the rooftop bar to enjoy even more fantastic cocktails in this fun cocktail pouring device. Fish bowls have moved on since Magaluf days I will tell you that.

OH and the bathrooms – weren’t they a delight. Boys you will have to let us know if yours were quite as good.

This place is just the place that keeps on giving.

We would recommend this for:

  • A date
  • Any special occasion
  • Girly brunch club
  • Views for daysss/ that insta pic, not much of London you can’t see
  • Foodies

We wouldn’t recommend for:

  • If you prefer mountains on mountains of food. Saying that though we were borderline paralysed full when we left (could have been the bubbles)
  • Tight budgets

Top tip:

  • Do not eat before you go
  • Look cute
  • Book it at 2 so that you can go straight to the rooftop that opens at 4pm after!!
